        After completing classical studies, in 1972 he graduated with distinction in law at Rome\u2019s \u201cLa Sapienza\u201d University. Under the guidance of Prof. Giuliano Vassalli, he frequented the most prestigious law firms of criminal defence lawyers in the capital.<\/p>\n

        After acquiring considerable experience in numerous criminal proceedings, in 1981 he founded the \u201cStudio Gentiloni Silveri \u2013 Diritto Penale\u201d Law Firm, where, ever since, he has practised the legal profession exclusively in the field of criminal law, in Italy and abroad. In the course of his long career as a lawyer he has taken part in more than 3,500 criminal proceedings throughout Italy; hundreds of these trials were held at the Supreme Court, where he has gained recognition as one of the most respected Italian criminal defence lawyers.<\/p>\n

        He has always been close to the Roman Catholic Church thanks to longstanding family ties and his professional experience. He assists some of the most important Catholic organisations in criminal matters and also acts as advisor to some of the Church\u2019s most eminent exponents. <\/p>\n

        In the course of his career he has taken a particular interest in international criminal law and in criminal events involving foreigners in Italy and Italians abroad. On various occasions he has been asked to assist foreign officials and diplomats, foreign embassies in Italy, Italian embassies abroad, ministries and state-controlled enterprises.<\/div>\n

        He is one of the most qualified and expert Italian lawyers in the field of extradition and the European arrest warrant, having covered numerous proceedings also in the defence of governments of important foreign countries applying for extradition.<\/p>\n

        He has acted personally before many foreign courts and acquired significant experience in proceedings before the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg, where he has frequently acted, and continues to act, in defending individuals and companies against different countries.<\/p>\n

        As well as practising in court, he has acquired significant experience as a legal advisor in criminal law matters for national and foreign entrepreneurs and also for foreign companies, law firms and governments of important countries.<\/p>\n

        As a professional advisor, over the years he has come to be appreciated by various multinational companies, including some of the most important in the world in their sector of business.<\/p>\n

        He has been enrolled at the Rome Law Society since 1975 and has been authorised to practise before the Supreme Court, and other higher courts, since 1989.<\/div><\/div>\n
